Biolase Waterlase MD
The Waterlase MD is currently considered the most advanced dental laser on the market. This laser has the ability to do both hard tissue (teeth, fillings, root canals, etc.) and soft tissue (gum surgery, frenectomy, gum contouring) dental procedures. Unlike other dental lasers in the market, the Waterlase MD chases water instead of pigmentation, which completely eliminates the dental plume problem (bacterial debris from using other dental lasers that follow pigmentation of color).
When other lasers are being used, everyone involved must wear specialized laser masks, but with the Waterlase MD, the plume problem is completely eliminated. Also, using the Waterlase MD significantly helps promote healing while reducing post-operative sensitivity and discomfort.
Bacterial and viral debris are all decontaminated, and their enzymes are denatured while the laser is being used. This gives your immune system a substantial “head start” in the healing process. Dr. Hu, who holds Laser Certification by the American Academy of Laser Dentistry, has been able to use the Waterlase MD on patients requiring small restorations and fillings without using any anesthetic whatsoever (EVEN on Pediatric/ Children)!
What WOW for pain free dentistry! Also, this laser can cauterize wounds, treat apthous ulcers (canker sores), and decontaminate infected sites. This advancement and option in Dr. Hu’s practice really provides his clients technology on the leading and cutting edge of modern dentistry.
CMT Temograms and “Static X-Rays”
Dr. Hu’s office is equipped with 3-D imaging for Implant placements and to look at lesions and pathology. Sinus polyps and cysts can also be visualized with the CMT system. Using the “Static X-Rays,” Dr. Hu can evaluate airway issues, check for Eagle’s Syndrome, jaw fractures and injuries, TMJ/TMD issues, turbinate/ nasal issues, and cervical vertebrael issues (such as variants from lordosis). Whether it is a lateral cervical spine radiograph, PA Townes, Frontal, or lateral Cephalogram, Dr. Hu’s office and team are equipped to provide these diagnostic images.
K-7 Computerized Jaw Tracing, Electrosonography, EMG and the Myomonitor TENS
People who have migraine headaches (cervical, cluster, etc.), tension headaches, airway issues, TMD/TMJ pain, postural problems, musculoskeletal signs and symptoms, bite problems may all significantly benefit neuromuscular dentistry (involving muscles, posture, bite transformation) through the use of K-7 Computer and TENS. When an individual has a “bad bite,” his/her TMJ (jaw joints) are in a “bad” position. This “bad” position leads to a cascade of events that ends in headaches, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) pain, and/or postural problems. Nerves, such as branches of the Trigeminal (Cranial V), are often pinched by the TMJ position, and muscles are then instructed to be overworked – as they are basically “fighting” this “bad” position of where the TMJ goes when the bite comes together. With the K-7 and TENS, both of these equipment allow Dr. Hu to evaluate a patients bite in 6-dimensions (rather than just the standard 3 dimensions dental schools teach). Furthermore, the computer program allows him to measure the velocity, range, and postural relationship of a patient’s jaw during all movements (such as open/close, chew, swallowing, excursions, protruding, etc.). The electrosonography allows Dr. Hu to measure the noise, crepitus, click/pop problems of the TMJ (jaw joint), and evaluate the TMJ condition. Dr. Hu is then able to capture a muscular harmonious “physiologic rest” bite using the K-7 Computerized technology. With this bite, a customized neuromuscular orthosis will be made for the patient to start treating the pain! After stabilization of the new, healthy physiologic rest bite, other options, such as fixed aesthetic porcelain units may be attained.
How does Dr. Hu get to the bite when the symptomatic patient first walks in?
The patient who is suffering from migraines, head/neck pain, and bite pain has these issues stemming from “unhappy muscles.” These muscles have built up noxious chemistry, such as lactic acid, and have a hypertonic (too much tonus) problem. With the TENS Myomonitor, leading dentists have proven the ability to relax these muscles and eliminate the tonicity problem. In conjunction with using the K-7 EMG Mode, Dr. Hu is then able to measure a quantifiable difference between the muscles “before and after” TENS therapy. Generally speaking, so many chronic pain and/or headache sufferers throughout America, have had all their symptoms, problems completely go away with this method of treatment. New "STA Wand Anesthetic Computerized Delivery"
Dr. Hu has currently added the "STA Wand Anesthetic System" and all patients can benefit from painless numbing. It has a computer brain to control Anesthetic delivery. The way it works is that a drop of Anesthetic is always one step ahead of the handpiece, allowing maximum comfort and control. This new technology will be available December 2007. Please ask a team member for more details.
